Troubleshooting: WebSphere Commerce Integration Wizard hangs or times out

When performing an integration step using the WebSphere Commerce Integration Wizard on a Windows operating system, it times out or appears to hang.

Problem

This is caused by an issue with the Windows operation system. The WebSphere Commerce Integration Wizard is holding onto a lock that the integration step requires, but it is waiting for the process that is performing the integration step to finish. For more information, see The fork() calls in multithreaded SUA applications can result in unpredictable behavior.

Solution

Use the following steps as a workaround for this problem:
  • If the WebSphere Commerce Integration Wizard has reported a timeout:
    • Make note of the log file mentioned on the WebSphere Commerce Integration Wizard message, then click Finish to close it. This will release the lock and the integration step will resume in the background. Wait until the background process is finished. You can keep track of the status of the background process by looking at the log file you noted earlier.
  • If the WebSphere Commerce Integration Wizard is still running, but has hanged:
    • Close the WebSphere Commerce Integration Wizard by closing the command prompt you used to launch it. This will release the lock and the integration step will resume in the background. Wait until the background process is finished. You can keep track of the status of the background process by looking at the appropriate log file as listed below:
      • WebSphere Commerce DeveloperWCDE_installdir/logs/enablefeature_timestamp.log
      • WC_installdir/instances/instance_name/logs/enablefeature_timestamp.log
