Payment processing with WebSphere Commerce Payments

WebSphere Commerce allows merchants to process payments in a wide variety of ways. This ensures that most customers will find a payment method that makes them feel comfortable making purchases.

WebSphere Commerce supports the following payment processing methods:

  • WebSphere Commerce Payments which provides the following payment-processing protocols:
    • Electronically verifies payments using the BankServ payment gateway which interfaces with the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network
    • Paymentech
    • VisaNet
    • Offline payments
    • Customized offline payment processing
  • Customer ability to delay payment settlement for all orders using the credit line payment methods

Many payment functions are automated in WebSphere Commerce, with the exception of certain functions from the WebSphere Commerce Payments user interface, such as payment settlement and exception processing. Authorizing, capturing, or crediting payments are part of the WebSphere Commerce Payments processing.

Depending on your chosen payment-processing type or option, certain tasks can be automated by using WebSphere Commerce Payments or the Acquirer. An example of a task that could be automated by using WebSphere Commerce Payments is retrieving a gateway certificate. An example of a task that could be automated by the Acquirer is the automatic batch settlement at the end of each business day by the Acquirer (this is dependent on the Acquirer).

There are several ways you can customize payment processing with WebSphere Commerce Payments implementation to better fit your payment processing needs, such as:

  • Designing custom payment-processing cassettes
  • Customizing the WebSphere Commerce Payments Cashier profiles
