Migrating to Rational Application Developer Version 8.5.5 from Rational Application Developer Version 7.5 or Version 8.0.4.2

If you are migrating to Rational Application Developer Version 8.5.5 from Rational Application Developer Version 7.5 or Version 8.0.4.2 or later, then you need to be on WebSphere Commerce Version 7 Feature Pack 8, Fix Pack 9.

Use these steps to migrate to Rational Application Developer Version 8.5.5.

Note: If you want to migrate from WebSphere Commerce Version 5.6.1 or WebSphere Commerce Version 6, use the following migration path:

From WebSphere Commerce Version 5.6.1 with WebSphere Studio Application Developer Version 5.1
1. Update to WebSphere Commerce Version 7 with Rational Application Developer Version 7.5.5.x or Rational Application Developer Version 8.0.4.2.
2. Then, use the following procedure in this topic to migrate to Rational Application Developer Version 8.5.5.
From WebSphere Commerce Version 6 with Rational Application Developer Version 6
1. Update to WebSphere Commerce Version 7 with Rational Application Developer Version 7.5.5.x or Rational Application Developer Version 8.0.4.2.
2. Then, use the following procedure in this topic to migrate to Rational Application Developer Version 8.5.5.

Procedure

If you are not on Feature Pack 8, then install WebSphere Commerce Version 7 Fix Pack 9 and Feature Pack 8.
Note:

- For information about installing, see Installing WebSphere Commerce Developer feature packs. Instructions for installing the fix pack are included as part of the step-by-step instructions for installing the feature pack.
Download and install interim fix JR55296.
JR55296 includes a new migration utility that you need to use to update to Rational Application Developer Version 8.5.5.
If you updated to Feature Pack 8 for the purpose of migrating to Rational Application Developer Version 8.5.5, then enable any of the features that were enabled in your previous WebSphere Commerce environment. If needed, you can also enable other features that were never previously enabled.
If you already enabled features for your Feature Pack 8 environment, then you can skip this step. For more information about enabling features, see Enabling features.
If you updated to Feature Pack 8 for migrating to Rational Application Developer Version 8.5.5 and if you customized your Management Center, then migrate your project to the WebSphere Commerce Feature Pack 8 level.

Note: If your Management Center customizations are already implemented in your Feature Pack 8 environment, then you can skip this step.
Install Rational Application Developer Version 8.5.5.
Run the following command in the WCDE_installdir\bin\ directory:
```
migrateToRAD855.bat RAD855installdir
```
where RAD855installdir is the directory where Rational Application Developer Version 8.5.5 is installed. For example,
```
migrateToRAD855.bat C:\IBM\SDPv855
```
To validate that the command ran successfully, check the WCDE_installdir\logs\migrateToRAD855.log for errors.
Start WebSphere Commerce Developer.
If Rational Application Developer Version 8.5.5 detects that any content in your workspace needs to be migrated, it automatically launches its workspace migration tool and notifies you of what must be done.
Note: In the Problems tab of WebSphere Commerce Developer, the following message might appear multiple times.

Implementation of project facet web.struts could not be found. Functionality will be limited.
```
You can safely ignore the messages.
