Migrating the WebSphere Commerce Developer database

Migrating the development environment database is the first stage of the migration process. You can migrate your WebSphere Commerce Developer Version 5.6.1 or 6.0 database to the WebSphere Commerce Developer Version 7.0 level using either the Migration wizard or the command line.

It is strongly recommended to use the Migration wizard to reduce the probability of errors. If you are migrating your production WebSphere Commerce database and are using WebSphere Commerce Developer, migrate your WebSphere Commerce Developer database. If you do not migrate your WebSphere Commerce Developer database, you cannot use that database for development on WebSphere Commerce Version 7.0.

If you use DB2 or Oracle, you should install the database on 32-bit, since WebSphere Commerce Developer is only on 32-bit. If they have DB2 on 64-bit, migration will fail.
