Troubleshooting: Instance export fails when using the Update Installer

When using the WebSphere Commerce Update Installer to install a fix package on the WebSphere Commerce Server, you receive an error that the instance export failed.

Problem

You receive the following message:
Failed to export the WebSphere Commerce instance to
C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\1\wcupdate directory.
For more information, see the log file:
"C:\IBM\WebSphere\CommerceServer70\logs\update\actions\install\exportear_WC_demo.log".

Solution

If the exportear_WC_demo.log file does not exist, update your WebSphere Application Server SDK level to 7.0.0.9 (Java SDK 1.6.0 SR7 Cumulative Fix) or higher.
