Application mapping

Application Mapping refers to the process of associating various attributes, such as category, application type, user interface, reporting, license type, cost, and active status, with specific applications. The purpose of Application Mapping is to enrich the data obtained from the DEX database by adding additional attribute.

The primary function of the application mapping console is to categorize applications into various classifications, such as productivity, business, or collaborative, while also allowing for the specification of attributes like browser compatibility, with exclusive access granted to admin users for configuration.

Application Mapping is the process of associating attributes with applications, while Application Overview presents a summary of application scores, considering only those applications marked for reporting in the Application Mapping page. Therefore, marking Reporting in the Application Mapping page filters which applications appear in the Application Overview page.

  • The Application Overview page is connected to the Application Mapping page in the sense that it displays the overview of the applications configured and classified through the application mapping process. The overview page may provide insights such as application scores, usage statistics, or other relevant metrics for each categorized application.
  • Once applications are mapped and classified through the Application Mapping page, they are displayed in the Application Overview page.
  • The Application Overview page provides a dashboard or summary view of the mapped applications, along with their associated scores or other relevant metrics.
  • Only applications that have been configured and mapped through the Application Mapping page will appear in the Application Overview page, ensuring that only relevant and categorized applications are included in the overview dashboard.
