SCM App in WebUI: Overview

The SCM App landing page lists all the custom and external checklists that are used to manage devices.

To navigate to the SCM App, log in to the WebUI and select SCM from the Apps menu.

The SCM App landing page contains the following elements:
  • Custom checklists: This tab includes all the checklists that are created by Master Operators (MO). The number in the parentheses indicates the number of available custom checklists.
    Each custom checklist tile contains the following information:
    Component Description
    Checklist title Shows the name of the custom checklist.
    (Out of Sync icon) Appears when the custom checklist has to be synced with its source (external checklist).
    No. of checks Shows the total number of checks in the custom checklist.
    Description Provides additional detail about the custom checklist.
    Updated Shows the date of the last update of the custom checklist.
    (Device subscribed icon) Number next to the icon shows the number of devices that are subscribed to the custom checklist.
    Note: It is recommended to create a custom checklist based on an external checklist and deploy a custom checklist to applicable devices. For more information on creating and deploying custom checklist, see Creating custom checklist and Deploying custom checklist.
  • External checklists: This tab includes all checklists that are implemented by the BigFix Compliance team based on benchmarks such as CIS, DISA STIG, FDCC, PCI DSS, and USGCB. Use these checklists to create custom checklists. The number in the parentheses indicates the number of available external checklists.

    Each external checklist tile contains the following information:
    Component Description
    Checklist title Shows the name of an external checklist.
    (New icon) Appears when an external checklist is newly published in last 7 days.
    (Refreshed icon) Appears when an external checklist is updated (refreshed) in last 7 days.
    No. of checks Shows the total number of checks in an external checklist.
    Updated Shows the date of the last update of an external checklist.
    Benchmark Shows the name and version details of the benchmark.
  • Search box: Operator uses to search for checklists using text or keywords. It searches both the custom and external checklist and filters the checklists based on the entered text or keyword.
  • Filters:
    1. Custom checklist filters:
      • All: By default, all the available custom checklists are displayed. When you select Out Of Sync from the drop-down, it shows the checklists that must be synced.

      • Platform: From the drop-down, you can filter checklists based on platforms such as SQL, OSX, Oracle, Apache, and others.

        Note: This filter lists only the sites that are subscribed in the console.
      • Sort By: Use Subscribed Devices and Last Updated in Sort By to sort the checklists based on device subscription and the last update time. By clicking the arrow icon next to the filter, you can view the newest updated checklist first or the oldest updated checklist first.

    2. External checklist filters:
      • All: By default, all the available external checklists are displayed. From the drop-down you can filter checklist based on New or Refreshed.
        • New: Shows all the newly published external checklist in last 7 days.
        • Refreshed: Shows all the refreshed external checklist in last 7 days.


      • Platform: From the drop-down, you can filter checklists based on platforms such as SQL, OSX, Oracle, Apache, and others.

        Note: This filter lists only the sites that are subscribed in the console.
      • Benchmark: Displays checklists based on a benchmark such as CIS, DISA STIG, FDCC, PCI DSS, and USGCB. For more information on supported benchmarks, see Supported Benchmarks.

      • Sort By: Use Last Updated in Sort By to sort the checklists based on the last update time. By clicking the arrow icon next to the filter, you can view the newest updated checklist first or the oldest updated checklist first.

  • There are two supported views:
    1. Grid view: With the Grid view, you can quickly view the checklists in a tile format.

    2. List view: With the List view, you can quickly view the checklists in a directory format.

      Note: Click or to toggle between list and grid view.
  • On the upper-right corner, you can use the Create and Sync to create and synchronize checklists. For more information, see Creating custom checklist and Synchronizing custom checklist.
    Note: Create function is disabled for Non-Master Operators (NMOs), because they do not have permission to create custom checklists.
When you log in to SCM App for the first time or you do not have any custom checklist created, you are prompted with the following screen:

You can create a custom checklist by clicking Create One or Create. For more information, see Creating custom checklist.
