Using print operations

If the time that a SYSOUT data set is printed or purged is important at your installation, consider using print operations. A print operation must complete before the occurrence that it is part of is considered complete.

A print operation does not require any action by HCL Workload Automation for Z. HCL Workload Automation for Z monitors the print and reports on the status, but the handling of print operations is still under the control of the JES subsystem.

A print operation must be a successor of a job or started-task operation and must have the same job name as its predecessor operation. If the job or started task produces more than one SYSOUT data set, you can create a print operation for each unique combination of job and started-task name, form number, and SYSOUT class that is produced to track the print output accurately. See Options that apply to print operations.
