To start the Update Tool from CLI

You can start the Update Tool from the command line interface (CLI).

Procedure

  1. Do one of the following actions at a command prompt:
    • Change directory to the snapshot view root directory and use the following command:
      cleartool update -graphical .

The Start Update window opens. The current view context is selected by default.

    • Use the following command:
      clearviewupdate

The Start Update window opens. Then click Browse and select a view.

  2. To have the Update Tool report the actions that it would take rather than perform the actual update, set Preview only; do not actually update the view.
  3. Optionally, click Advanced and change the options that are used for hijacked files and timestamps.
  4. Then click OK.

Results

The files and directories at the root directory and below are updated or the update is previewed. For more information, click Help.
