The iOS Users Guide contains information for accessing and using the HCL Sametime Premium and Sametime on an iOS mobile device.
Using Sametime Chat
You can change your availability status, work with contacts, manage settings and chat with other Sametime® users. You can have multiple devices logged in simultaneously with persistent chat histories on your devices.

When you're in a chat conversation you can send a photo or file to your chat partner provided that the administrator enabled this feature. The administrator can also restrict the type of files that can be transferred.

- Using Sametime Chat

  - Using the main menu
    The Chats screen is the default view when you log in. It displays all conversations that you currently have open.
  - Changing your status
    Your online status includes your availability and status message. The top of the application menu displays this information. Tap your current status to make changes. Other logged-in Sametime users can see your online status.
  - Managing your contacts
    The Contacts screen displays your groups. When you expand the groups, the app shows the individuals in the groups.
  - Viewing a contact's information
    You can view details about a person you are chatting with or in your contacts list. The Contact Info screen includes the name, nickname, photo or default avatar, title and awareness status displays.
  - Active chats
    The Chats screen displays all conversations that you currently have open. Tapping on a chat conversation opens the conversation, and the main view displays the conversation.
  - Starting a chat
    You can start a chat conversation from the chat main screen or directly with an individual or group in your contact list.
  - Reacting to a chat message
    You can react to a message with one of the available reactions.
  - Leaving a chat
    When you leave a chat conversation, the active chat list no longer displays the chat.
  - Deleting chat messages
    You can delete chat messages no longer needed or sent in error, provided that the Sametime administrator allows that option. The default deletion time is twenty-four hours and one hour to undo the deletion. These values can be changed by the administrator.
  - Starting a group chat
    You can start a chat with a group of people from your Contact List.
  - Sending a file during a chat
    When you're in a chat conversation you can send a photo or file to your chat partner provided that the administrator enabled this feature. The administrator can also restrict the type of files that can be transferred.
  - Sharing content from a mobile device
    You can share content with the Sametime app using your mobile device sharing feature. You can share URL links, images, text, and files that are on your mobile device.
  - Controlling audio
    With various settings, you can control sounds while you use Sametime meetings and chat.
  - Using an Apple watch
    You can use your Apple to create, read and reply to Sametime messages.
- Using Sametime Meetings
  If you use Sametime Premium, you can create and manage meetings that you own by selecting Meetings from the menu. The Meetings screen also shows a list of recent meetings that you joined and entry field for entering the name of a meeting you want to join or start.
- Managing Sametime app settings
  You can manage settings for the HCL Sametime app on your mobile device. Settings persist on the server so the server maintains the settings on installations and other mobile devices.

  You can manage some Sametime settings from the device settings.

  You can access the online HCL Sametime iOS Users Guide and contact support from the Help and Support screen.

Sending a file during a chat

When you're in a chat conversation you can send a photo or file to your chat partner provided that the administrator enabled this feature. The administrator can also restrict the type of files that can be transferred.

About this task

Instant messaging policies determine whether the availability to send files is available to you. The administrator configures the policy setting.

Files that a chat partner sends to you arrive in your chat window either as a photo or an attached file to download. When you tap Download to received a file, you have the option to preview or save the file.

To send photos access is required to photos and videos on your phone. Go your phones Setting and locate the Sametime app. Tap Sametime > Photos to allow the Sametime app access to all photos, or selected photos, or none. You can change the setting value each time that you want to send a photo from the Sametime app. If the seleted photos have been identified and you don't see the photo you want to send, tap Manage to select more photos. You can also change the setting value after tapping Manage.

Procedure

Tap the attach icon () and select the type of file to send.
Take new photo

Take a photo with the phone camera and send it in the chat.

Choose from photos
Select a photo that you saved on your phone or attached drive, and send it in the chat.
- If a video is selected, it is sent as a file transfer.
- If a photo is selected, select the size of the inline image to send. Choosing one of the size options sends an inline photo with a reduced resolution. To maintain the full resolution of the photo, it must be sent using the Send as file option.
If you don't have access when sending a photo, you are prompted and can change the setting. The setting for photos can also be accessed by tapping Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos.
Choose from Files

Select a file and send it in a chat. The file can be a document, graphic, audio, or video file.
Select the file to send.
- If you are sending a photo, select the photo and then tap OK.
- If you are taking a photo, the camera app opens. Take the photo and tap OK. When prompted to send the photo, tap OK.
- If you are sending a file, select the file . The app uploads the file to the conversation for the recipient to download.
