Configuring the WebSphere SIP proxy server with a Load Balancer

Configure an IBM® WebSphere® SIP proxy server that fronts Sametime® Media Manager components in a load balancing environment. These instructions are for IP forwarding Load Balancers.

About this task

For instructions on configuring a Load Balancer, refer to Load Balancer documentation.
Note: When configuring a Load Balancer, ensure that SIP awareness is not enabled.

Procedure

  1. On the WebSphere proxy server, log in to the Integrated Solutions Console as the WebSphere administrator.
  2. Click Servers > Server types > WebSphere proxy servers.
  3. In the proxy servers table, click on the name of the server that you want to configure.
  4. Under Proxy Settings, click SIP Proxy Server Settings > SIP proxy settings.
  5. Skip to step 6 if the WebSphere SIP proxy server is installed on a computer with a single IP address/network interface. Otherwise, complete this step. Under Container facing network interface, in the following fields, type the WebSphere SIP proxy IP address (physical IP address of the computer where the WebSphere SIP proxy server is installed). If the computer has multiple network interfaces, type the IP address you want the WebSphere SIP proxy server to use when communicating with the WebSphere Application Server.
    1. UDP interface
    2. TCP interface
    3. TLS interface
  6. Under Load balancer health checking, complete these fields:
Note: This setting can be used for defining WebSphere SIP proxy server Load Balancer health checking.
    1. Load balancer members, IP address 1 - Specify the Load Balancer IP address (physical IP address of the computer where the Load Balancer is installed). Check with the Load Balancer administrator to determine which IP address the Load Balancer uses to send the health check requests.
    2. SIP health check method name - Specify the SIP method name the Load Balancer uses for the health check. The OPTIONS method is typically used.
  7. Click OK to save the settings.
  8. Save the changes by clicking the Save link.
  9. Repeat this procedure for each WebSphere proxy server.
