Removing a Sametime server from the new node

After you have federated a new IBM® Sametime® server node to the Bandwidth Manager cluster, remove the Sametime application but leave the IBM WebSphere® proxy server intact.

About this task

After the new node has been federated to the Bandwidth Manager cluster, it can be managed by the cluster's deployment manager. Since the purpose of this new node is to provide a WebSphere proxy server, the Sametime product application is no longer needed on that node, and can be removed.

After setting up and federating server nodes, there are redundant blank application servers on the Deployment Manager. The redundant servers are typically named server1. For example, if you have two application servers and two proxy servers, there are four server1 entries (redundant servers) that can be removed. In this example, after removing the redundant servers, you have two Bandwidth Manger application servers and two WebSphere proxy servers.

Procedure

  1. On the cluster's deployment manager, log in to the Integrated Solutions Console as the WebSphere administrator.
  2. Click Servers > Server Types > WebSphere application servers.
  3. In the list of servers, click the name of each new Sametime node.
  4. At the beginning of the list, click the Delete button.
  5. When prompted for confirmation, click OK.
  6. Save the change by clicking the Save link the "Messages" box at the beginning of the page.
  7. Verify that each server you selected has been deleted by making sure it no longer appears in the list of servers.
