Setting up backup and restore

Configure settings related to database backup, database restore, and database prune (removal) of older backed up files.

About this task

If you use File system commands for backup and restore:
  • The server that runs the Backup task requires access to create files in the directories specified in this procedure. If a directory doesn't exist, the server requires access to create one.
  • If you run Domino on Windows, the server won't have access to remote file shares when using the system account to start the server.

Procedure

  1. Open the Domino Backup database (dominobackup.nsf) and select the Configuration view.
  2. Select the default configuration document for your platform, either Linux or Windows. Then, click New Config.
  3. Complete the Main tab.
  4. Complete the Backup tab.
  5. (Optional) If you are using a third-party solution to do snapshot backups, complete the Snapshot tab.
  6. Complete the Restore tab.
  7. Complete the Prune tab.
  8. Complete the Notification tab.
  9. Click Save & Close.
