What else can I do with library files?

In addition to downloading, checking out, and uploading new versions of files, you can use the rich social features provided by community libraries to interact with files and collaborate on them with your colleagues.

Before you begin

For linked libraries, the social features described in this topic are available for IBM® FileNet® Content Manager deployments only. They are not supported in IBM Content Manager deployments.

About this task

When you find a file of particular interest that you want to recommend to fellow community members, you can click an icon to indicate that you like the file. You can tag files to categorize them and make them easier to find. You can also follow files when you want to be notified about the latest updates to them, and provide feedback on files by adding comments.

Procedure

From the library, click a file name in any view to open the file's summary page, and then perform one or more of the following steps:
  • To tag the file, click Add or Remove Tags (or Add Tags if no tags have been added yet), add one or more meaningful keywords, and click Save. Use spaces to separate your tags.
  • To remove tags, click Add or Remove Tags and click the X next to the tag that you want to remove.
  • To like the file, click Like. If you change your mind later, you can click Unlike to undo this action. To see who else liked the file, click the Like Like icon icon to see a list of names.
  • To follow the file so that you receive notifications about the latest updates to it, select More Actions > Follow.
  • To stop receiving updates for the file, select More Actions > Stop Following.
  • To provide feedback on the file, click the Comments tab and click Add a comment. You can optionally select the Follow this file to get notified when comments or updates are posted check box if you want to be notified about new comments or updates to the file. Click Edit or Delete if you want to make changes to your comment or remove it later. Comment authors can edit or delete their own comments; community owners can edit or delete any comments.
Note: You cannot @mention other users when editing a comment.
