Installing an HCL product from an HTTP server with Installation Manager

After you create a repository on an HTTP server, you install your HCL product using Installation Manager.

Before you begin

Check user requirements before installing the HCL product. HCL products require administrator access.

Installation Manager must be installed on your system, and the HTTP server must already contain a repository for your HCL product. For more information, see Installation scenario walkthrough: installation of HCL VersionVault HCL Compass with Installation Manager from an HTTP server.

Start Installation Manager.
Add the repository to Installation Manager.
1. Click File > Preferences.
2. Click Add Repository.
3. Click Browse. Type the URL for the repository.config on the HTTP server or navigate to the directory containing repository.config on the HTTP server. For example, http:\\server\HCL_product\repository.config.
4. Click Open > OK > Apply > OK.
Install the HCL product. Click Install to start the installation wizard.
Note: If the HCL product requires a later version of Installation Manager, you are prompted to update. Updates to Installation Manager are affected by the preferences Search for Installation Manager updates and Search service repositories during installation and updates.
The following message is displayed:
```
A new version of IBM Installation Manager is available. You must update Installation Manager before you can continue. To update Installation Manager, click Yes. To return to the Start page, click No. Do you want to update the Installation Manager?"
```
Click Yes to update Installation Manager. If you click No, you cannot continue with the update. To display the message again after clicking No, select Recheck Status, in the lower right-hand corner. After the update to Installation Manager completes, you are prompted to restart Installation Manager.
If you have updated Installation Manager, click Install after Installation Manager restarts.
