Preparing WebSphere Commerce Developer Version 7.0 for migration

To prepare for migration from version 7.0 to version 8.0, commit customized code and published stores to a source control repository and back up the development database.

Procedure

  1. Back up your customized code, including published stores, into a source control repository. For example, Rational Application Developer comes with support for CVS and Rational ClearCase. See your Rational Application Developer documentation for details on backing up source code.
  2. Back up your version 7.0 development database by using one of the following methods:
    • DB2Backup overview
    • OracleSee the database vendor documentation.
      Note: When you restore the Oracle database, the character sets are automatically converted to AL32UTF8.
    • Apache DerbyCopy your WebSphere Commerce Developer Version 7.0 database directory to another location of your choice. For example, copy WC_toolkit70\db\mall to c:\DB_backup\db\mall.
