Migration overview from Version 6 (Feature Pack 3.0.1 or later) to Version 7

If you have an existing Management Center installation at the Version 6.0 level and have customizations, use this overview to help you understand the migration process if you decide to upgrade your Management Center to the Version 7 level.

Before you begin

Important: If you want to migrate from Management Center Version 6.0 Feature Pack version to a Management Center Version 7.0 Feature Pack version, you must first migrate to Management Center Version 7.0, then migrate to the Management Center Version 7.0 Feature Pack version.

About this task

Review the overview steps required to migrate from Management Center Version 6 (Feature Pack 3.0.1 or later) to Version 7:

Procedure

  1. Identify changes between Management Center Version 6 Feature Pack x and Version 7. A comparison utility generates a comparison report that outlines the changes you made to the Management Center Version 6.0 Feature Pack version web module.
  2. Manually merge your customized files to Version 7. You also must rebuild your LOBTools project and test the updated project within your development environment.
  3. Package the Management Center files for deployment.
  4. In the WebSphere Commerce production environment, install Version 7, and migrate your Commerce instance from Version 6 to Version 7.
  5. Deploy the development environment changes into the production environment:
    1. Deploy the WAR file from Step 3.
    2. Deploy your store assets.
