Feature Pack 6

Migration overview from Version 7, or from Version 7 with a lower feature pack level, to Version 7 Feature Pack 6

If you have an existing Management Center installation at the Version 7.0 level, or at the Version 7.0 Feature Pack 1, Feature Pack 2, Feature Pack 3, Feature Pack 4, or Feature Pack 5 level, and you have customizations, use the information in this topic to help you understand the migration process, if you decide to upgrade your Management Center to the Version 7 Feature Pack 6 level.

Before you begin

  • WebSphere Commerce Version 7.0.0.7If you plan to migrate to Rational Application Developer Version 8, review the steps in Migrating to Rational Application Developer Version 8 or 8.5.5 to ensure that you do all the required steps in the correct order.
  • Fix any unique ID issues first before you merge your customized files to Version 7 Feature Pack 6 in step 4

Procedure

Review the overview steps:
  1. Identify Management Center customizations on Version 7 or Version 7 Feature Pack x. A comparison utility generates a comparison report that outlines the changes you made to the Management Center Version 7 Feature Pack x web module.
  2. In the WebSphere Commerce Developer Version 7 or Version 7 Feature Pack x which contain Management Center customizations, install Feature Pack 6.
  3. In the WebSphere Commerce Developer Version 7 or Version 7 Feature Pack x which contain Management Center customizations, enable the Management Center feature at Feature Pack 6 level.
  4. Manually merge or click-to-merge your customized files to Version 7 Feature pack 6.
Note: To enhance the performance of Management Center, Feature Pack 2 and above remove some OpenLaszlo files (*.lzx) and deliver some definition files (*.def) instead. In Step 3 the enablement script converts some of the customized OpenLaszlo files to definition files. In this step, you must manually merge your customizations into the definition files with the help of the compare tool.
  5. Rebuild your LOBTools project and test the updated project within your development environment.
  6. Package the Management Center files for deployment.
  7. In the WebSphere Commerce production environment, install Version 7 Feature Pack 6 and enable the management-center feature at Feature Pack 6 level.
  8. Deploy the development environment changes into the production environment:
    1. Deploy the WAR file from Step 6.
    2. Deploy your store assets.
