Installing WebSphere Commerce
This roadmap provides an overview of installing WebSphere Commerce.
Installing WebSphere Commerce using the custom installation
A custom installation allows you to select various components to install on one machine at a time. To install different components on different machines, perform a WebSphere Commerce custom installation on each of the machines in your configuration. A custom installation does not create your WebSphere Commerce instance automatically. You must create the instance after installing WebSphere Commerce and its software stack.

Preparing for a custom installation
A custom installation will proceed more smoothly if you have prepared for it by determining your site topology, software stack, and have performed the necessary system preparation.

WebSphere Commerce supports several different Web servers. Depending on the web server different preparation steps are required.
Using IBM HTTP Server
By default, WebSphere Commerce uses the IBM HTTP Server Version 7.0 provided with WebSphere Application Server.
Using an existing IBM HTTP Server
You must complete the steps on this page, if you want to preinstall IBM HTTP Server Version 7. If you want to preinstall IBM HTTP Server with WebSphere Commerce, you must install the web server and bring it up to the required level before starting the WebSphere Commerce installation wizard. Also, you cannot use the quick installation option of the WebSphere Commerce installation wizard. You must use the custom installation option.

Using an existing IBM HTTP Server

You must complete the steps on this page, if you want to preinstall IBM HTTP Server Version 7. If you want to preinstall IBM HTTP Server with WebSphere Commerce, you must install the web server and bring it up to the required level before starting the WebSphere Commerce installation wizard. Also, you cannot use the quick installation option of the WebSphere Commerce installation wizard. You must use the custom installation option.

Procedure

Install IBM HTTP Server according to the documentation provided with the version of the IBM HTTP Server package that you are using.
Note:
1. Linux on eServer, IBM i, and IBM System p only supports Open SSL as a cryptographic engine. If the Open SSL license is not accepted during installation, SSL functions might not function properly.
2. Do not install IBM HTTP Server at the default location, /home/wasuser, when you install using the non-root user. Use another location, for example: /usr/IBMIHS.
