Quick install overview

Quick installation is an appropriate method for installing WebSphere Commerce on a single machine, using the packaged software stack and an interactive, GUI-based installation method.

Quick install

The quick installation completes the following tasks:
  • WebSphere Commerce - Express
    • Installs DB2 Express Edition Version 9.5.0.4, or higher version 9.5 fix pack
    • Installs IBM HTTP Server Version 7.0
    • Installs WebSphere Application Server Express Edition Version 7.0.0.3, or higher version 7.0 fix pack
    • Installs Web server plug-ins for WebSphere Application Server Version 7.0.
    • Installs WebSphere Commerce
    • Creates a WebSphere Commerce instance named demo.
  • WebSphere Commerce EnterpriseWebSphere Commerce Professional
    • Installs DB2 Enterprise Edition Version 9.5.0.4, or higher version 9.5 fix pack

    • Installs WebSphere Commerce
    • Creates a WebSphere Commerce instance named demo.
Note: If you are using a 64-bit Windows operating system, you still need to install the 32-bit edition of DB2, because WebSphere Commerce runs on 32-bit JVM.
A quick installation fails if any of the following products are detected on the system:
  • Any edition of DB2 Version 9.5
  • Any edition of WebSphere Application Server Version 7.0.
  • Any version of IBM HTTP Server
  • WindowsMicrosoft IIS is running.
  • Any WebSphere Commerce Version 7.0 components.

Note: Quick installation can only be performed by using a GUI-based installation. If you want to install WebSphere Commerce using a silent method, see Installing WebSphere Commerce using the custom installation.

WebSphere Application Server administrative security

During installation of WebSphere Application Server, administrative security is enabled by default in your newly created WebSphere Commerce profile. The default user ID and password are the same as the credentials for the WebSphere Commerce configuration manager. When enabled, you must use these credentials for administrative tasks such as logging on to the WebSphere Application Server administrative console, and starting and stopping the WebSphere Application Server. If WebSphere Application Server sample code is installed, the same password needs to be used to access the sample applications.

Note: Administrative security is not enabled for WebSphere Test Environment in WebSphere Commerce Developer.
