WebSphere Commerce Build and Deployment tool
The WebSphere Commerce Build and Deployment tool is designed to address the error-prone and time-consuming nature of customized asset deployment. Manual customized asset deployment involves accessing and updating numerous systems, including your database, web server, application server, and WebSphere Commerce server. Manual customization can be problematic, especially for a production environment where downtime has a negative impact on the business. For a customization project with many developers, it is a challenge to ensure that each development environment setup is quick, easy, and repeatable to preserve productivity. The WebSphere Commerce Build and Deployment tool provides a starting point for you to automate your build and deployment processes in a standardized, controlled manner.
Configuring and running the toolkit deployment process
After you create the deployment package, you can deploy it to your development environment using additional Ant scripts provided as part of the WebSphere Commerce Build and Deployment tool.
Installing the toolkit deployment package
After you generate the toolkit deployment package using the WebSphere Commerce Build and Deployment tool, install the package on your WebSphere Commerce development environment.

Procedure

Create the directory WCBD_deploy_toolkit_common_dir.
Transfer the WCBD_installdir/dist/toolkit/wcbd-deploy-toolkit-build-label.zip file from the build system to the toolkit deployment system and uncompress it to WCBD_deploy_toolkit_common_dir. The directory WCBD_deploy_toolkit_common_dir/wcbd-deploy-toolkit-build-label is created and it is referred to as WCBD_deploy_toolkit_dir.
Tip: If the deployment package directory name is long, you might encounter problems when you extract the package. A solution for this problem is described in the topic, Troubleshooting: EJB deployment fails in the build process on Windows.
