To locate a version or branch by name or properties

Procedure

  1. In the Version Tree Browser window, display the version tree of an element.
  2. Click Tools > Locate.
The Locate Version and Branch window opens.
  3. Select Locate the version or branch based on the following criteria.
  4. In the Locate Version By area or the Locate Branch By area, select the criterion to search by.

For example, to find a branch that was created on September 1, select Creation Info.

In the List of Names pane, all version names, label names, activity names, and branch names are sorted in alphabetical order, based on the criterion you selected. For example, if you select Creation Info, List of Names contains a list of dates and user IDs, each corresponding to a version or branch in the version tree.

Tip: If there is too much data in the List of Names pane, you can narrow the search criteria further:
    1. Select Selection Filter. Between the List of Names pane and the Located Versions/Branches pane, the Filter field opens.
    2. In the Filter field, enter a text string.

For example, if you select Creation Info, and you want to see only those versions checked in during September 2003, you can enter *Sep*03* in the Filter field.

    3. Click Apply.
  5. In the List of Names pane, select the identifier that corresponds to the version or branch you want to locate. The branch and version name is displayed in the Located Versions/Branches pane.
  6. Click Locate.
    A lighted flashlight
A flashlight opens in the version tree next to the result of your query to indicate the located version.
  7. Click anywhere in the version tree to remove the flashlight.
