Guidelines for adding pages and shortcuts in the Shortcut pane

Modifications that you make to the HCL VersionVault Windows Explorer Shortcut pane affect the current and future instances of VersionVault Windows Explorer on the current host only. Your modifications remain after upgrading to a new HCL VersionVault release.

General guidelines

When adding shortcuts and pages in the Shortcut pane, consider the following guidelines:

  • You cannot move a shortcut to another page. You must remove the shortcut and create it on another page.
  • You cannot add empty pages to the Shortcut pane. When you add a new page, add a shortcut to the page. VersionVault Windows Explorer removes any pages that are empty.

Guidelines for view shortcuts

When viewing shortcuts, consider the following guidelines:

  • You can add shortcuts to views only on pages that are on the Views page.
  • VersionVault Windows Explorer creates a page on the Views page for each UCM project that you join. A shortcut to a view that is associated with a project must be on the project's page on the Views page.
  • We recommend that you do not place shortcuts to non-UCM views on a page that was created for a UCM project.
  • You cannot export view shortcuts. VersionVault Windows Explorer adds shortcuts to views that you own.

Guidelines for URL and tool shortcuts

When using URL and tool shortcuts, consider the following guidelines:

  • You can add shortcuts to URLs and executable files only on pages that are on the Toolbox page.
  • You can export your modifications to an external file, and you can import site-specific default tool shortcuts from an external file.
