Specifying the default registry region

An HCL VersionVault registry region (or network region) is a conceptual partition of a local area network required to install the product. During the installation process, you must specify a default region name for your site.

The default registry region does not have to exist before installation, but you must specify a region name during the installation process. After installation, run this command to create the named region: cleartool mkregion region-tag where region-tag is the name specified for the region during the installation process.

The administrator can define multiple registry regions, in which clients use different global path names to access the same storage directories. Having multiple regions enables the HCL VersionVault registry mechanism to support multiple subnetworks with different host namespaces.
