Selecting recipients for personalized messages

You select message recipients in Campaign by selecting one or more flowchart cells as input cells to a Deliver process. Doing so identifies members of the cells as message recipients in the output list table (OLT). The OLT serves as the recipient list that you reference in a messaging campaign.

Before you begin

Configure a Campaign flowchart to select information about message recipients in your marketing database. Define cells that identify the recipients that will receive a message as part of a production messaging campaign. The information must include specific address information that is required to deliver the message to the intended recipient.

Add a Deliver process to the flowchart.

About this task

The Deliver process consists of three tabs.

  • General tab. Use this tab to name and describe the Deliver process.
  • Source tab. Use this tab to select message recipients.
  • Output tab. Use this tab to map recipient-specific marketing data to personalization fields that you define in the list.

Configure the Source tab to indicate which recipient IDs to include in the list of message recipients. Each recipient ID specifies a row in the output list table (OLT) when you perform a production run of the flowchart.

Procedure

  1. In Campaign, locate the flowchart that contains the Deliver process that you want to configure. Open the flowchart for editing.
  2. In the flowchart, do one of the following:
    • Double-click the Deliver process.
    • Right-click the Deliver process and select Process Configuration from the context menu.

The Deliver Process Configuration window opens.

  3. Click the Source tab.
  4. Select production or test recipients. Do either or both of the following.
    • In the Production List field, select one or more of the available cells as a process input to identify the individuals that will receive a message as part of a production messaging campaign.
    • In the Test List field, select one or more of the available cells as a process input to designate the cells as test list cells to create a test list.
Important: When creating a test list, be careful that you do not select cells that contain production recipients. Remove any cells that are also specified in the Production List field.
  5. If you want to create a seed list, from the drop-down list in the Seed List field, select the individual cell that contains the list of seed addresses that you want to distribute in the production list. In the Seed List distribution section, select a distribution method, as follows.
    1. Distribute IDs evenly to insert seed addresses at equal intervals throughout the entire production recipient list based on the size of the recipient list and the number of seed addresses available.
    2. Insert entire list for every N IDs in main list to insert the entire list of available seed addresses at specified intervals throughout the production recipient list. You must specify the interval between insertion points.
    3. Optionally, if you selected Insert entire list for every N IDs in main list, enter a value in the Interval field to specify the number of recipient addresses between insertion points for the seed list.
The default interval is 10,000 recipients.
  6. Communication Channel is the communication channel to be used for contacting the recepients. It is mandatory if you select the Apply contact central consents checkbox. It is available only if you configure Contact Central at Affinium|Campaign|partitions|partitionN|server|internal.
  7. Regional Preference is visible only if you configure Contact Central at Affinium|Campaign|partitions|partitionN|server|internal and set the regional preference on the Campaign Summary page.
  8. Apply contact central consents is used if you want to apply consents from the end-user to the created recipient list. If you select this checkbox, providing a value to Communication channel becomes mandatory. It is available only if you configure Contact Central at Affinium|Campaign|partitions|partitionN|server|internal. The end users, who have opted out for the selected communication channel, are automatically excluded from the OLT.
