Personalization field data types in the OLT

When you map a field in your marketing database to an OLT, the JDBC driver for your marketing database communicates the datatype that it has defined for the source database field. The JDBC data type must be one of the data types that Deliver supports.

Deliver includes data type as part of the metadata included in the OLT upload to HCL Unica. The system displays an error if the JDBC driver specifies a data type that Deliver does not support.

OLT personalization fields can be either numeric or text data types. The system automatically defines the OLT personalization field data type based on the JDBC data type of the source database field. The source field and data type designation is indicated in the list of Available Fields on the Output tab of the Deliver process.

If necessary, you can edit the data type defined for an OLT personalization field. For example, when you add an OLT personalization field to a personalization rule, it might be necessary to correct the data type to pass rule validation.
