Managing zone assignments

In the Rules Spreadsheet, you can add, edit, or change the zone that uses a personalization rule and content element.

About this task

The Zone column displays the list of zones that are contained in the document.

In each row of the spreadsheet, you can see the rule and content element that is associated with a zone. A zone can contain multiple rules and content elements. You can change the zone that uses a particular combination of rule and content by changing the zone assignment in the Zone column.

Procedure

  1. In the Zone column, select the cell where you want to change zones.
  2. Right-click the cell to display a menu. Do any of the following.
    • Select Inline Edit to open a list of available zones.

      Select one of the zones from the drop-down selections or enter a zone name. The system automatically attempts to match an available zone name to the characters you enter.

    • Delete the zone. You must replace the deleted zone with another zone.
    • Cut, copy, or paste a zone.
  3. Click Validate.

    The system automatically validates all rules in the spreadsheet.

    If errors exist, they are listed at the bottom of the spreadsheet.

  4. If no errors exist, click OK to save the rules and return to the document edit window.

Results

Your changes display in the edit view of the document.
