Calling a contact

You can call a contact or group from the chat window.

About this task

To start a call, in a chat window, click the telephone icon (). A call started message is displayed and a meeting opens in a new tab with a banner with the name of the person or group being called. If it is a group, the number of group members is also displayed. The call recipents receive a chat message to join the meeting. By clicking Join they are placed into the meeting. After the meeting is ended, all participants see a message in their chat window indicating that the call has ended.

If the receipent doesn't respond to the join call, the call ends based on the timer used for showing chat notification banners. The default is 20 seconds. A message is displayed indicating that the meeting ended because the invited people were not available. Both parties to the call receive a Missed call message in their chat window.
