Deploying
IBM® Sametime® consists of a variety of servers and clients, and can be deployed to suit many different environments. The deployment instructions are organized by feature set, beginning with the minimum components that are necessary to support instant messaging, and then expanding the deployment to include features such as audio and video support, and conferencing.
Deploying instant messaging
Instant messaging features are provided primarily by the IBM® Sametime® Community Server, which supports presence, text chats, and two-way phone calls.
Securing the Sametime® Community Server
The IBM® Sametime® server uses the Internet and intranet security features of the Domino® server on which it is installed to authenticate web browser users who access Domino databases on the server.

Configure IBM® Sametime® Community Server to use SSL (Secure Socket Layer) for its services; and configure HTTPS when communicating with Web clients or enable LDAPS (LDAP over SSL) with the LDAP server.

Installing GSKit on the Sametime® Community Server

About this task

IBM Domino® ships with a version of GSKit, but for this task you must use the version included with the IBM Sametime® Community Server.

To install GSKit on AIX, follow these steps :

Procedure

Log on to the server as the root user.
Create a temporary directory in which to store the GSKIT installation files.
For example,
/tmp/gsk8
Obtain the GSKit installation files from the Sametime installation media, then copy the installation files to the temporary directory you created in step 2.
The GSKIT installation files are GSKit8.gskcrypt32.ppc.rte and GSKit8.gskssl32.ppc.rte

From the temporary directory containing the GSKIT installation files, install GSKit by entering these commands:

inutoc /tmp/gsk8 
installp -acgqw -d /tmp/gsk8 GSKit8.gskcrypt32.ppc.rte
installp -acgqw -d /tmp/gsk8 GSKit8.gskssl32.ppc.rte
