Adding a configuration policy

The App configuration policies in Microsoft Intune helps in eliminating application setup up problems by allowing you to assign configuration settings to a policy that is assigned to end-users before they run the application.

About this task

The settings in the app conifguration are applied automatically when the app is configured on the end-users device. Each configuration is unique for each application and can be customized by using an app configuration and management. The configuration policy settings are used when the app checks for these settings, typically the first time the app is run. The App configuration can be delivered either through the mobile device management (MDM) OS channel on enrolled devices (Android in the Enterprise channel for Android) or through the Mobile Application Management (MAM) channel.
Note: MS Intune requires Android 8.x or higher for device enrolment scenarios and app configuration delivered through Managed devices app configuration policies. For MS Intune application protection policies and app configuration delivered through Managed apps app configuration policies, MS Intune requires Android 9.0 or higher.

To do this, perform the following steps:

Procedure

  1. Go to App > App configuration policies.
  2. Click on Add and select the Managed devices.
  3. Add the basic information in the app config policy and select the targeted application to which the policies needed to be enabled.
Note: In Connections Mobile Android, the base settings are added in the Android Enterprise configuration policy XML file.
  4. On the Settings tab, set the Configuration settings format to Use configuration designer.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Click on Add group, Add all users, and Add all devices to add the groups, users, and devices you wish to make the application available to.
