Configuring MaaS360 for Workplace Integration

Configure Fiberlink MaaS360 integration with the HCL® Connections mobile app.

Before you begin

The HCL® Connections mobile app supports the following MaaS360 products:
  • MaaS360 MDM for Android 5.0 and higher.
  • MaaS360 for iOS 2.6 and higher
Note: (Android only) File types that are not in your whitelist of allowed file types can still be opened. MaaS360 does not yet support file type whitelisting for Android.

About this task

When a mobile device is managed by a mobile device management (MDM) product such as MaaS360, you can erase the data from the device if it is lost or stolen.
Tip: To erase Connections data from a device, perform a selective wipe by following the instructions in your MaaS360 product documentation.

If you plan to deploy the Connections mobile app in an environment that is managed by MaaS360, you must specify a user persona policy.

To enable MaaS360 integration with the Connections mobile app, complete the following steps:

Procedure

  1. Log in to the MaaS360 portal.
  2. Go to Security > Policies and add a User Persona policy.
  3. Under Workplace, set the following policy attributes:
    1. (Android only) Under Services, set Docs Viewer to Yes. This setting enables the secure viewer on Android devices.
    2. Under Passcode, enable Enforce passcode and set a passcode policy. This policy forces users to enter a passcode to use the Connections mobile app.
    3. Under Security, set data protection policies to control Connections mobile data.
Note: Some policy settings are not supported:
      • Whitelisting allowed file types does not work on Android because of an SDK limitation.
      • Restricting printing is not supported by the Connections mobile app for Android
      • Restrict file imports.
    4. Under Workplace apps, specify the following policy settings for the Connections mobile app:
      1. If you configured an apps whitelist, add the Connections app to Allowed Apps.
      2. Under Configurations, you can specify a configuration file with configuration parameters for the mobile app. For information about configuration settings that are supported by the Connections app, see the MDM app configuration settings topic.
  4. Optional: You can enable the HCL Connections app to open non-HCL Connections URLs in MaaS360, instead of using the browser embedded in the HCL Connections app. This is helpful if your HCL Connections content contains URLs that can only be accessed from the MaaS360 Browser app. Under Services, set Browser to Yes. This setting enables the MaaS360 secure browser.
  5. Click Save and Publish.
