Content store migration

Migrate your 4.5 or 5.0 content stores to your IBM® Connections 5.5 deployment.

When you create content stores for IBM Connections 5.5, you can reuse the 4.5 or 5.0 content stores, by using either of two methods: use the 4.5 or 5.0 directories in the 5.5 deployment or create new 5.5 directories and copy the 4.5 or 5.0 content to them.

Note: Reuse the extracted file content that is stored at the location pointed to by the EXTRACTED_FILE_STORE WebSphere® variable. You can reuse the content by copying the contents of EXTRACTED_FILE_STORE location on the 4.5 or 5.0 system to the EXTRACTED_FILE_STORE location on the 5.5 system as part of the content store migration.

Note: Note that (EXTRACTED_FILE_STORE), the search index can also be migrated from either Connections 4.5 or 5.0.

In addition to migrating the extracted searchable text, you can also migrate the search index to IBM Connections 5.5, with the following restrictions:

If you migrate an index from IBM Connections 5.0, the file content of existing forums attachments is not searchable. After migration, any forums attachments that are added or updated will have their content indexed.
If you migrate an index from IBM Connections 4.5, the file content of existing forums and activities attachments is not searchable. After the migration, any forums or activities attachments that are added or updated will have their content indexed.
To migrate the search index, you must generate an index backup from the Connections 4.5 or 5.0 deployment. Then restore the index on the IBM Connections 5.5 environment. For more information, see Backing up the search index and Restoring the Search index.
