Installing the WebSphere Commerce sample portlet application on the WebSphere Portal server

Installing the WebSphere Commerce sample portal application installs the WAR file provided by WebSphere Commerce to the WebSphere Portal server.

Before you begin

  • You have configured authentication on your WebSphere Commerce machine.

Procedure

  1. Copy the MVCPortlet.war file from the WebSphere Commerce machine, to a temporary directory on the machine that you use to access the WebSphere Portal administration console. The default location of the MVCPortlet.war file is:
    • WC_installdir/components/wcportal/MVCPortlet/MVCPortlet.war
    • WCDE_installdir/components/wcportal/MVCPortlet/MVCPortlet.war
  2. Open the WebSphere Portal administration console.
  3. Click Administration > Portlet Management > Web Modules.
  4. Select Install and enter the location of the MVCPortlet.war file or click Browse to find the location of the file to install.
  5. Click Next and verify WAR file information.
  6. Enter MVCPortlet.war as the Enterprise Application display name.
  7. Enter /wps/wc as the Context root.
  8. Select Start application.
  9. Click Finish to install the WAR file.
  10. If you install the WebSphere Commerce sample portlet application into a WebSphere Portal cluster, the deployed portlets must be activated before they can be used. To activate the portlets, complete the following steps:
    1. Open the WebSphere Portal administration console.
    2. Click Portlet Management > Web Modules., and select File name starts with as the Search by option.
    3. Type the name of the WAR file that you have installed. For example, MVCPortlet.
    4. Click the Activate button beside the MVCPortlet.war file. After the activation is complete, you will not see "Stopped" in the status column.
