Installing feature packs interactively on a WebSphere Commence clustered environment

You can install your feature pack using an interactive method which uses a graphical install wizard. After navigating through the install wizard your feature pack will be installed.

About this task

Your WebSphere Commerce instance can be active or stopped during the installation of the WebSphere Commerce feature pack.

Procedure

  1. Uninstall any interim fixes that are installed and not part of the feature pack you are installing.
See APARs fixed in WebSphere Commerce feature packs for a list of APARs fixed in each feature pack. Feature packs are cumulative, so the latest feature pack includes the fixes for APARs fixed in all lower-level feature packs.
Note: Record all interim fixes that you uninstall. After you install the feature pack, you must contact support to obtain a new version of any APAR that was not included in it.
  2. Passport Advantage

    • For IBM i OS operating systemSave the package to a temporary location on a Windows machine.

WebSphere Commerce feature packs are provided in ISO format. Ensure that you mount the DVD correctly. For more information, see Working with WebSphere Commerce physical media

  3. If you downloaded the WebSphere Commerce feature pack package, extract the WebSphere Commerce feature pack package to a temporary location.
The temporary location, where the package is downloaded, is denoted as the FeaturePack_tempdir in the following sections. Extract the WebSphere Commerce feature pack package into the FeaturePack_tempdir.
    Note:
    • Ensure that you extract to a location that has enough disk space. It is recommended that the amount of free disk space is at least two times the size of your wc.ear file. If your temporary and installation file systems are on the same partition, then more disk space might be needed.
    • Ensure that you extract to a location where the user that is installing the package has, at minimum, read and execute permissions.

If you encounter a problem when you extract the package, see Troubleshooting: Unable to use the unzip command to decompress downloaded e-images
