If you are performing a custom installation of WebSphere Commerce, you can use an existing Oracle database installation.

Platform notice

WebSphere Commerce Version 7.0 supports the following versions of Oracle database:
  • Single-instance environments:
    • Oracle 11gR1 database Standard Edition
    • Oracle 11gR1 database Enterprise Edition
    • WebSphere Commerce Version 7.0.0.2 or laterOracle 11gR2 database Standard or Enterprise Edition
    • WebSphere Commerce Version 7.0.0.9 or laterOracle 12cR1 database Standard and Enterprise Edition
      Note: You must complete configuration steps for WebSphere Commerce to fully support Oracle 12cR1. For more information, see Configuring database connections to support an Oracle 12c database.
  • Multi-instance environments:
    • WebSphere Commerce Version 7.0.0.2 or laterOracle 11gR2 RAC database
    • Oracle 12cR1 RAC database

Using Oracle database with WebSphere Commerce

The following table shows the configurations that are possible. Depending on your desired combination of WebSphere Application Server JVM bit, your operating system kernel bit, Oracle version and choice of a local or remote Oracle server, you may need to have a different application server and database topology.
