Introduced in Feature Pack 2

Manage your price lists directly in Management Center

A price list is a list of catalog entries with associated prices in one or more currencies. WebSphere Commerce uses price lists in price rules to set prices for catalog entries on your storefront. When you manage your price lists using the Catalog Filter and Pricing tool in Management Center, you can take advantage of many features to implement flexible pricing and simplify maintenance.

What are some examples of price lists?

WebSphere Commerce provides two default price lists, "Offer Price" and "List Price," which you can use to maintain prices for your catalog. If needed, you can create and manage any additional price lists that make sense for your business. For example:
  • If your business uses cost-based pricing, you could create a "Cost" price list.
  • If your business needs to track distribution costs for specific catalog entries, you could create a "Distribution Cost" price list.
  • For a B2B direct store, you could create a "Contract A Tire Prices" price list that contains tire prices that you negotiated with a specific business customer.
Then, by creating a price rule, you can use the price lists for storefront pricing, without involving IT.

What are the benefits of price lists?

Price lists provide business users the ability to create and manage price lists and dynamic pricing rules. Price lists, with price rules, provides the following key business benefits:
  • Flexibly and automatically manage product price based on predefined rules.
  • Optimize profits by delivering dynamic product pricing.
  • Use external pricing rules to provide centralized rule driven dynamic pricing for B2B and B2C clients.
  • Share centralized pricing rules between WebSphere Commerce and other business applications.

Which user roles use price lists?

As a feature of WebSphere Commerce, price lists are easily leveraged by the following user roles:
  • Pricing managers can create price rules to dynamically create price lists.
  • Sellers, Sales Managers, and Account Representatives can use the Catalog Filter and Pricing tool's flexible features to implement pricing strategies that meet the site's business needs over time and to filter your catalog for product and price entitlement.

Who can create price lists?

Pricing managers, Sellers, Sales Managers, and Account Representatives can use the Catalog Filter and Pricing tool to create or upload price lists. Administrators can use the Data Load utility to load price lists in WebSphere Commerce, which business users can then manage in the Catalog Filter and Pricing tool.
