Canceling a checkout

If you decide not to keep your changes, you can cancel a checkout.

About this task

If you decide that you checked out a file in error, or you do not want to keep the changes you made to a file, you can cancel the checkout instead of checking in the file. In this topic, you will return the notes.txt file to a read-only state by canceling the checkout.

To cancel a checkout:

Procedure

  1. Connect to the VersionVault WAN server, if you are not connected already.
Expand the My Views node in the VersionVault Navigator, right-click on the view called yourname_tut_view and click Connect. In the WAN dialog box, fill in the connection details, and click OK.
Note: You can also select the view and click the connect to ClearCase icon (Connect to VersionVault Server) button in the toolbar or you can select Connect from the VersionVault menu. In addition, if you are not connected to a VersionVault server and you perform an action that requires such a connection, the WAN dialog box appears automatically.
  2. In the VersionVault Details view, select the notes.txt file and click the undo checkout icon (Undo the checkout for the selected artifact(s)) button on the toolbar.
Note: You can also right-click the file and select Undo Checkout or you can select Actions -> Undo Checkout from the VersionVault menu.
  3. In the Undo Checkout dialog box, clear the Keep a copy of modified artifacts check box and click OK.

Results

In the VersionVault Details view, note that the file no longer appears with a checked-out indicator.
