    You can configure an HCL VersionVault host running Linux® or the UNIX system to support access to VOBs and dynamic views from computers that do not run HCL VersionVault.

    If you can estimate the number of elements, versions, and derived objects that a VOB will ultimately contain, you can compute a very rough estimate of the size of a VOB that can accommodate them. VOB storage includes a database and pools. On Windows®, the database and pools must reside on a single disk partition. On Linux® or the UNIX system, the pools can be located on a different partition or host, using symbolic links.

Special considerations for replicated VOBs

When relocating elements from one replicated VOB to another, observe the following rules and guidelines:

Elements to be relocated must be mastered in the current replica and inactive at all replica sites.
You must replicate the target VOB at each site that includes the source VOB. Relocate elements from VOB1 replica to VOB2 at local site; then replicate VOB2 at each VOB1 replica site. After a relocate operation at site A, cross-VOB hyperlinks will "dangle" at site B's replica if either site B does not include a replica of the target VOB used at site A, or site B has not been updated by a syncreplica operation since the relocate operation at site A.
You must coordinate the relocate operation with the administrators of all of the VOB's replicas. For example, if replica A is locked for relocate, and a checkin happens at replica B in the meantime, that checkin is lost to replica A.
Metadata types must be mastered at the local replica before the relocate command is run. This is required in order for a relocated element to be successfully re-created with its associated metadata at a remote replica.
You may need to adjust mastership for metadata type objects. When relocate copies them to the target VOB, it creates them with local mastership.
