Media Manager ports

Ports required for the IBM® Sametime® Media Manager's server components.

Table 1. Media Manager portsDefault port settings for the Media Manager, and descriptions of each.

Default port Purpose
443 TLS port used by the Sametime Video MCU. The port is bidirectional.
9080 HTTP port for control and general management of audio/video calls. In a cluster, HTTP ports are routed through a WebSphere® SIP proxy server. This lets you open these ports only between the firewall and the SIP proxy server. WebSphere may change these ports depending on the install environment.
3900 Audio in a single port mode.

4000 Video in a single port mode.

  • 40000 to 49999 (Starting with S9 GA until OpenSSL Security Bulletin released in September 2015)
  • 49152-59151 UDP (Starting with OpenSSL Security Bulletin released in September 2015)
Audio and video. Bidirectional UDP. The Video MCU component of the Sametime Media Manager routes audio data to participant endpoints through a range of ports starting with 40000 through 49999. It uses values in this range as needed, as it services multiple calls.

The Sametime Video Manager and the Video MCU need a lot of ports; start the conversation now with your firewall administrator.

5060 and 5061 SIP A Media Manager deployment with a single instance of each server component. These ports are used by both Conference Manager and Video Manager. Ports may change, as they are dependent on WebSphere during installation to determine the available port numbers to use.
5080 and 5081 SIP Multiple-server Media Manager deployment. In a cluster, SIP ports are routed through a WebSphere SIP proxy server. This lets you open these ports only between the firewall and the SIP proxy server.
3478 The Media Manager's Video MCU component uses this UDP port to access the TURN server.
4443 HTTPS port used by Video MCU. The port is bidirectional.
7563 TCP port used by Video MCU. The port is bidirectional.
8080 HTTP port used by Video MCU. The port is bidirectional.
8880 SOAP port used for server-to-server communication. The Sametime System Console, through the deployment manager, accesses the Media Manager on this port. This port number varies, depending on how WebSphere Application Server was installed.
9443 The Video Manager uses this port for HTTP REST API access.
15000 TCP port used by Video MCU. The port is bidirectional.
