Verifying the Domino server document settings

After installing the IBM® Domino® server and before installing the IBM Sametime® Community Server, you should edit the Domino server document to make sure that the fields are completed as described in this topic.

Procedure

Follow these steps to edit the server document.
  1. Start the Domino server and wait until it is started.
  2. Open the Domino administrator and click the Configuration tab.
  3. Expand the Server section and then click All Server Documents.
  4. Open the server document for the Domino server on which you are installing Sametime.
  5. On the Basics tab, verify the appropriate values for the following fields and change values if necessary.
    Fully qualified Internet host name
You complete this field during the Domino server installation. It contains the fully qualified host name as known by the DNS server. The value cannot be a numeric IP address.

In a test environment, you can use DNS or the local hosts table.

Load Internet configurations from Server\Internet Sites documents
    Disabled
    Directory assistance database name
If a directory assistance database does not exist on the server, Sametime creates one during server installation and sets this field to da.nsf.
    Directory type
This field must be Primary Domino Directory.

If this field contains Configuration Directory, shut down the Domino server and replicate names.nsf from a master server. Master servers use the Primary Domino Directory type.

  6. On the Security tab, verify the appropriate values for the following fields and change values if necessary.
    Administrators
You complete this field during the Domino server installation. It contains the name of the Sametime administrator. If the name is incorrect, click the arrow to select a name from an address book.
    Internet authentication
The default value is Fewer name variations with higher security, which is better for tighter security.

Select More name variations with lower security if you use Domino Directory authentication and want users to be able to use short names.

    Access server
Leave this field blank. If you do include entries, you must add the following entry to the list of trusted directories:

    Sametime Development/Notes Companion Products

Sign or run unrestricted methods and operations
After you install the Sametime server, this field includes these entries:
    • The name of the server
    • The name of the administrator
    • Sametime Development/Notes® Companion Products

If you have signed agents with an additional signature, include that name in this field.

  7. On the Ports - Notes Network Ports tab, verify the appropriate values for the following fields and change values if necessary.
    Port
This field must be TCPIP. Use uppercase letters.
    Protocol
    This field must be TCP.
    Net address
The fully qualified host name for the Domino server as known by the DNS server.

The value of this field must be the same as the fully qualified Internet host name on the Basics tab and the host name on the Internet Protocols-HTTP tab. The value cannot be a numeric IP address.

    For example, computername.domain_name.com or stdom1.example.com.

  8. On the Ports - Internet Ports - Web tab, verify the appropriate values for the following fields and change values if necessary.
    TCP/IP port number
    This field must be 80.

Before you install the community server, the port number must be set to 80. The TCP/IP port number changes after installation to 8088 automatically if you enable HTTP tunneling.

    TCP/IP port status
    This field must be Enabled.
    Name & password
    This field must be Yes.
    Anonymous
    This field must be Yes.
  9. On the Internet Protocols - HTTP tab, verify the appropriate values for the following fields and change values if necessary.
    Host name
The fully qualified host name of the Domino server as known by the DNS server.

The value of this field must be the same as the fully qualified Internet host name on the Basics tab and the net address on the Ports - Notes Network Ports tab. The value cannot be a numeric IP address. If the servers are running on AIX® or Linux™ operating systems and have multiple valid IP addresses, enter all of the IP addresses instead of the host name.

    For example, computername.domain_name.com or stdom1.example.com.

    Bind to host name
This field must be set to Disable for Microsoft™ Windows™ servers and for AIXor Linux servers that do not use partitioned Domino servers.

This field must be set to Enable for IBM i servers and for AIX or Linux servers that use partitioned Domino servers.

This field must be set to Yes for portals.
    Home URL
This field is set to /servlet/auth/admin during Sametime installation.
    DSAPI filter file names
If this field is set to NDOLEXTN (Domino offline services), remove the value and leave this field blank.
  10. On the Internet Protocols - Domino Web Engine tab, verify the appropriate values for the following fields and change values if necessary.
    Session authentication
This field is set to Multiple Servers (SSO) during Sametime installation.

If single sign on (SSO) is not being used, you can change this field to single-server.

    Web SSO configuration
This field is set to LtpaToken during Sametime installation.
    Java™ servlet support
This field must be Domino Servlet Manager.
  11. Click Save and Close.
  12. Stop and restart the Domino server for the changes to take effect.
  13. Verify that the IBM Domino server is available from client workstations. Start a web browser on the workstation and attempt to access a database that clients can access, such as names.nsf . Enter

    http://hostname.example.com/names.nsf

If you can sign on using the server administrator ID and Internet password to view the contents of names.nsf, the Domino server is available and ready for installation of Sametime.
