Deploying
IBM® Sametime® consists of a variety of servers and clients, and can be deployed to suit many different environments. The deployment instructions are organized by feature set, beginning with the minimum components that are necessary to support instant messaging, and then expanding the deployment to include features such as audio and video support, and conferencing.
Deploying instant messaging
Instant messaging features are provided primarily by the IBM® Sametime® Community Server, which supports presence, text chats, and two-way phone calls.

Ports used by the Sametime® Community Server
IBM® Sametime® uses a number of ports on the server. This topic lists the default ports and their uses.
Event server port
The "Event server" port (default 9092) is used for intra-server connections between components of the IBM® Sametime® Community Server.

Generally, it is only necessary to change this port if you have installed multiple Sametime Community Servers on a single server or if another application on the server uses port 9092.

Note: If you run Sametime Community Server on IBM AIX® or Linux™, you can install multiple Sametime Community Servers on a single computer, within the same logical partition. Each Sametime Community Server instance runs on a separate partitioned IBM Domino® server. If you run a Sametime Community Server on Microsoft™ Windows™, you can only install one server on each Windows computer.

If multiple Sametime Community Servers are running on the same computer, you must ensure that each Sametime Community Server specifies a different port as the "Event server" port.
