  2. (Linux) Create a new Community Mux administrator user and group named stmux.

    useradd stmux

  3. Find the software packages you need to download.
  4. Download the packages.
  5. Extract all downloaded packages.
  6. Navigate to the folder where you extracted the packages and from the /CommunityMux directory, start the installation program.
  7. Select a language for the installer, and then click OK.
  8. At the "Welcome" screen, click Next.
  9. Click I accept the terms in the license agreement, and then click Next.
  10. Browse to the directory where you want to install Community Mux program files (or accept the default), and then click Next.
Attention: If you are upgrading an earlier version of the Community Mux to Sametime 9, you must modify the default installation path to match the path used previously. Sametime 9 uses a different path for the Community Mux by default and does not check for existing instances of the server in other locations. If you change the installation path now, Sametime will upgrade the older version of the server. If you do you not change the installation path now, Sametime will install the version 9 Community Mux as an additional instance instead of upgrading the older version. On Microsoft Windows, this would result in two entries in the Programs & Features menu, pointing to the different instances of the Community Mux.
  11. Browse to the directory where you want to install Community Mux data files (or accept the default), and then click Next.
  12. Enter information about the local system and the Sametime server.
    • (Linux) Enter the Community Mux user name.
    • (Linux) Enter the Community Mux group name.
    • Enter the fully qualified host name of the Community Mux.
    • Enter the fully qualified name of the Sametime Community Server.
    • For best results, do not use IP addresses.

    Click Next.

  13. At the summary screen, click Install.
  14. At the "successfully installed" screen, click Finish.
