IBM® Sametime® consists of a variety of servers and clients, and can be deployed to suit many different environments. The deployment instructions are organized by feature set, beginning with the minimum components that are necessary to support instant messaging, and then expanding the deployment to include features such as audio and video support, and conferencing.

Migrating older user IDs to a unique directory attribute
If you are using an older release, you can migrate user IDs to a unique ID, so you do not need to run the name change utility when a person's name changes in the directory. Having a constant user ID attribute eliminates the need to change a user ID when a name changes.

A comma-separated value (CSV) file created in a text editor provides the name conversion utility with the information for migrating the old user ID to a new user ID that uses a directory attribute that is not likely to change.

Procedure

Use a text editor to create a comma-separated file.
Since the RESOLVE mode does not require any additional information, the CSV file is very simple. The content of the CSV file is a single line: RESOLVE.
Note: Create a CSV for only one type of change: RESOLVE. You cannot mix name change types in the same CSV.
Name and save the file with an extension of .csv in a directory accessible by the Sametime® server.
