Enabling Google Cloud Messaging (GCM) for Android devices

Enable Google Cloud Messaging so that users can receive push notifications from IBM® Sametime® on their Android devices.

About this task

Enable the GCM push notifications by adding the Google Android certificate to the Sametime Proxy Server.

Procedure

1. On the computer hosting the Sametime Proxy Server, log in to the IBM WebSphere® Integrated Solutions Console as the WebSphere administrator.
2. Click Security > SSL Certificate and Key Management > Key Stores and Certificates.
3. On the Key stores and certificates page, select the CellDefaultTrustStore.
4. Click Signer certificates > Retrieve from port.
5. On the Retrieve from port page, click and provide the following settings for Google:
   • Host: android.googleapis.com
   • Port: 443
   • Alias: android.googleapis.com_cert
6. Click Retrieve Signer Information.
7. Click OK.
8. Click the Save link in the "Messages" box at the beginning of the page.
