IBM® Sametime® consists of a variety of servers and clients, and can be deployed to suit many different environments. The deployment instructions are organized by feature set, beginning with the minimum components that are necessary to support instant messaging, and then expanding the deployment to include features such as audio and video support, and conferencing.
Deploying for mobile users
The Apple iOS client is distributed through the Apple App Store. The Android client is no longer available for download from the IBM® Sametime® Proxy Server. Customers with users who are unable to access the Google Play Store should contact IBM Support to request that a build be provided to them directly.

You can provide shortcuts that help mobile users get started with IBM® Sametime® without having to know server names or addresses.
Creating a Meeting Server configuration URL for mobile users
After configuring the first mobile device to connect to the Meeting Server, generate a configuration URL on the device. Distribute the URL through email or a link on an internal website to allow other mobile users to connect to the Meeting Server easily. Users only need to know their own credentials; they do not need to know anything about server addresses or ports.

Use a pre-configured iOS device to generate a configuration URL that you can distribute to Android or iOS mobile users to get them started with meetings quickly.

Procedure

On the pre-configured iOS device, open the Sametime® application.
Open the Settings menu.
- iPad: Tap the gear icon. Tap Settings.
- iPhone: Tap the More tab if Sametime Voice is enabled. Tap Settings.
Tap Meeting Servers.
Tap an existing server configuration to display the edit dialog.
Tap the action icon at the top of the Edit Meeting Server Dialog.
Generate the configuration URL.
- Tap Copy Configuration URL to generate the configuration URL and copy it to the device clipboard so it can be saved elsewhere.
- Tap Email Configuration URL, which will compose a new mail message containing the generated configuration URL in the body.
Distribute the URL to users.
As long as users have installed the IBM® Meetings app on their devices, they can open the configuration link to create the correct meeting server configuration for their devices automatically.
