Extending HCL OneDB™Beyond standard relational database objects, HCL OneDB™ can be extended to handle specialized data types, access methods, routines, and other objects. HCL OneDB™ includes many built-in extensions that are fully integrated in the database server. HCL OneDB™ also provides DataBlade® modules, which are packages of extended database objects for a particular purpose and that are installed separately from the database server. Alternatively, you can create your own user-defined objects for HCL OneDB™.
Creating extensionsYou can create user-defined data types, routines, access methods, and other database objects to suit your needs. You can use application programming interfaces to write user-defined routines and applications that access data in HCL OneDB™ databases.

Perform functional test dataYou can perform functional tests on your DataBlade® module routines by using the functional tests generated by BladeSmith. You must enter test data for functional tests in BladeSmith. You run functional tests on UNIX™, or you run them on Windows™ by using a toolkit that is compatible with UNIX™, such as MKS Toolkit.
Test data for user-defined routinesTo enter test data for a routine, select the routine and choose Edit > Gather Test Data.

Test data for user-defined routines

To enter test data for a routine, select the routine and choose Edit > Gather Test Data.

The test data for user-defined routines includes the following items:

Test data item	What to test for
The input parameters for the test case	Enter the input parameters in the same format you type them in an SQL statement. Enclose text parameters in quotation marks.
The result expected from the function, if the input parameters are valid	If you enter invalid input parameters, leave this field blank. If the user-defined routine is a procedure, the result field is not available because procedures do not return values.
An error code, if the input parameters are invalid.	Leave this field blank if the input parameters are expected to be valid.

For example, the Circle DataBlade® module defines a Contains() function that takes a Circle value and a Pnt value and returns a Boolean result. To test the Contains() function with a Circle value of '(12,12,2)' and a Pnt value of '(12,12)', enter the following input parameters:

'(12,12,2)','(12,12)'

Calling Contains() with these values return a true result, which you can enter as t. Because the input parameters are valid, you leave the Error code field blank.
