Opening password-protected Excel files

You can open password-protected Microsoft Excel files in HCL Connections Docs.

Before you begin

HCL Docs supports opening password-protected files but not individual password-protected sheets. If one sheet in a file is password-protected, the file must be opened in Excel to remove the protection from the sheet. Once the protection is removed, the file can be uploaded to HCL Docs for editing. To remove protection from a password-protected file, do the following:

Procedure

  1. Upload the Excel file to My Files.
  2. Click the file name.
  3. Click Edit. Then a window opens for you to enter a password.
  4. Enter the password and click OK. The file opens in HCL Docs and is ready for you to edit.
Note: Only .xls files are supported.
