Linking tests to requirements

In HCL DevOps Test Embedded (Test Embedded), you can link a test case and a test harness to one or several requirements to create a traceability matrix between requirements and test results.

About this task

The following procedures describe how to link a test case or a test harness to a requirement:
In a test case
  1. Open a test case.
  2. Select the first or the last node in the activity diagram.
  3. In the right panel, select the Requirements tab.
  4. Click Add requirement from file and select a requirement in the dialog box to add a requirement to the test case.
  5. Optional: You can add a comment in the Comment column to provide additional information about this test case. This comment is added to the traceability matrix report.
In a test harness
  1. Open a test harness.
  2. Select the first or the last node in the activity diagram.
  3. In the right panel, select the Requirements tab.
  4. In this panel, click Add requirement from file and select a requirement in the dialog box to add a requirement to the test harness.
  5. Optional: You can add a comment in the Comment column to provide additional information about the test case or the test harness. This comment is added to the traceability matrix report.

What to do next

Run the test suite that contains test cases and test harnesses so that a traceability matrix is created between requirements and test results. You can then open the traceability matrix report that is automatically generated. See Opening a requirement traceability matrix report.
