Upgrade DevOps Code ClearCase with the Installation Manager

Use IBM® Installation Manager to upgrade and modify DevOps Code ClearCase® product features in an existing installation.

Before you begin

Depending on the version you are upgrading from, other DevOps products might require upgrade before you can upgrade ClearCase components.

About Installation Manager
Use IBM Installation Manager to install, update, and modify DevOps Code ClearCase components. Installation Manager also helps track installed packages, determine what packages are available to install, and organizes installation directories. For more information, see the Installation Manager documentation.

Upgrade the license server to IBM Common Licensing version 9.x. Client

Attention: You must upgrade your license server to IBM Common Licensing version 9.x if you are upgrading to DevOps Code ClearCase version 10.0. Otherwise, earlier DevOps Code ClearCase users cannot contact the license server.
Windows Only: Install IBM License Key Administrator (LKAD) Client

 Installing License Key Administrator You must use LKAD version 9.x with DevOps Code ClearCase version 10.0.
Note: You cannot install LKAD version 9.x at the same time you are upgrading to DevOps Code ClearCase version 10.0.
On Linux or the UNIX system: Check the umask variable. Client

 If required, log in as root user, start a terminal session, and set umask = 0022. Before you install the product, set the umask variable to provide ClearCase non-root users with access to the product.
Install and manage IBM Installation Manager if it is not already available. Client

 IBM Installation Manager tasks Information for installing and managing Installation Manager on Windows, Linux, and the UNIX systems. If you install by using a silent response file, Installation Manager is installed automatically.
If you are not familiar with the Installation Manager, review the available methods for installing and updating client and server software. Client

 If the DevOps Code ClearCase administrator copied the Installation Manager installation files and an associated response file, you can download Installation Manager and install silently without having to specify any settings.
Prepare the WebSphere® Application Server environment Server Prepare the WebSphere Application Server environment for DevOps Code ClearCase web servers Before upgrading your version of ClearCase, first you must update to a supported version of the WebSphere Application Server for that version of ClearCase. For the most current information about system requirements for ClearCase, see the IBM Software Product Compatibility Reports site for the version of ClearCase that you have.
Upgrade CCRC WAN Server Server Before upgrading, see the system requirements for ClearCase at the IBM Software Product Compatibility Reports site for the version of ClearCase that you have.
Upgrade ClearTeam® Explorer Client Provides access to DevOps Code ClearCase from various network connections, including broadband (WAN) and local area networks (LAN).
Upgrade ClearCase MultiSite Server Implementation planning MultiSite is installed as an optional product component during the DevOps Code ClearCase installation.
Upgrade ClearCase Cadence Virtuoso Integration Client Integrating DevOps Code ClearCase with Cadence Virtuoso Optional feature that allows custom chip designers to complete ClearCase actions while in Cadence Virtuoso. If you are upgrading an environment that included the ClearCase integration with Cadence from ClearCase version 8.0.0.5 or earlier, uninstall the existing integration, and install the ClearCase version 10.0 Cadence Virtuoso Integration.
