Search for a person

Find people by the information that is listed in their profile.

About this task

From Profiles, there are many ways to search for people. For all types of search, the wildcard character (*) is supported. For example, if you enter Ethan * as a search string for names, the results display all profiles for people with the given name Ethan. If you enter 555* as the search string for telephone numbers, the results display all numbers that begin with 555.

Procedure

To access the following search options, make sure that you are in Profiles.
  • Select Profiles by Name and enter a name or part of a name to search.
  • Select Profiles by Keyword and enter the keywords to search.
  • Select Directory Search to scope your search to the company directory or to access more search options.
    After you select Directory Search, click Display full search options and enter more search criteria. If you select Include inactive users in search results, you can identify the profiles of the inactive users because those profiles are grayed out.
    Note: Your administrator can add or remove fields to suit the needs of your organization.
  • Search for someone by tag.
    You can click a tag in one of the tag collections to see those people who have the same tag in their profiles. Or, you can enter a tag in the full search options section of the Directory page. Separate multiple tags by using a space or comma.

Results

Profile contact information is displayed in the search results. Search results are limited to 250 entries by default. You can view the business card of a person included in the search results by hovering on their name and clicking the link provided.

To save the search results, subscribe to the Profiles search feed available at the end of the list.
